The Turkey Club was founded by the late Jack Cruikshank in 2004 with a simple goal – help make a brighter, happier holiday season for local families who are struggling. Incorporated that same year as ‘The Turkey Club Society’ and registered as a charity, the group of dedicated volunteers began providing Christmas turkey dinner hampers to those families in need.

In 2011, Jack and the rest of the Board of Directors of the Turkey Club Society brought the society under the fundraising program of the Parker Street Food and Furniture Bank.

The Turkey Club is now a full part of the Parker Street Food and Furniture Bank operations and annual donations to the Turkey Club continue to assist needy families in the Halifax region during the Christmas holiday season. Over the past ten years – from the 2014 Christmas holiday season up to the 2023 Christmas holiday season – the Turkey Club is very proud to have raised a total of $300,000. This has had a meaningful impact for thousands of local families during the holiday season!
